They finally got it right…
The OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 Black has finally got it right. I’ve owned all previous models of the Olympus TG 1-6 Tough cameras and this version finally fix my main concern. Previous models always had a clicking sound when filming n video and muffled out when zooming. The TG7 does not do that and has made me extremely satisfied. Overall this is a great all around camera, as it’s tough as the name says. Granted i’ve never dropped a previous versions nor do I plan on dropping this one but it’s made tough. Easy to use and functionality is super simple. Always better to carry a universal camera and not always drain your phone battery. You can charge additional batteries and have expandable memory. It’s waterproof and takes great micro-photos… the microscope mode is what I enjoy best about this camera. Great product and great price… best medium range compact camera. 5 Stars from Us…

Great Everyday Carry Camera
I bought this nice little camera for everyday carry. I have high end DSLR and mirrorless cameras along with pro lenses from Nikon and Olympus, so I’m not expecting this little guy to beat those other cameras out in image quality. This is a small, rugged, and waterproof camera that can be put in a pocket and exposed to harsh environments. It takes pretty good pictures and video. I partially LOVE the macro modes. I bought the guide light and silicone jacket accessories for it. With focus stacking and the guide light this little guy is very fun to explore the smaller things all around us. Put it in one of the scene modes or leave it in full auto to take photos of events, landscapes, people, etc.Again, it won’t beat out its big brothers, but is excellent for everyday carry. As the old saying goes: the best camera is the one you have with you. Some would argue that a cellphone fits this space better. I disagree. This thing is cheaper than the high end cellphones, is more durable (both shock and waterproof), it has advanced computational photography features, and it has a whole ecosystem of accessories. I like the GPS features to include compass, altitude, and temperature. You can geo tag your photos and videos. You can also shoot in RAW format and import your pictures to your favorite photo editor. The free OM Workspace works just fine. Finally, the camera connects easily to the free OI.Share app on your phone so you can send your photos there to share with others.I love this little camera.

About as good as a point-and-shoot format can get
I’ve been a big fan of Olympus for quite some time, and I have quite a bit of micro 4/3ds stuff from the Pen series cameras. I needed a tough camera for work, as I’m often in wet and nasty locations taking photos for insurance claims. After dropping my Pen E-P5 lens down into a puddle of sewage on the concrete, destroying about $1,000 worth of glass, I realized that I cannot afford to keep using my good camera for dirty work. This one fits the bill. Not only is it designed to be drop resistant, waterproof and tough, but it has most of the control features I like about my mirrorless camera, in a point-and-shoot body. The camera has a fairly wide angle lens, and even better still, can accept adapters to give me even more flexibility. I added a screen protector, silicone cover and an aftermarket .45x wide-angle adapter, and the whole package cost me less than the lens I broke in the first place. The camera has built in GPS, which is nice to have when photographing scenes that may later be introduced in court as evidence, it produces good-quality video, and has a pretty decent zoom range, and great macro focus capabilities right out of the box.Add the fact you can go swimming with it and take photos underwater without an external case, and I’m pretty much set.It has remote software you can install on your phone or tablet, and you can download the images wirelessly, use the camera in live view mode and control the zoom from your phone. There’s some downsides to it, as it doesn’t integrate well with my estimating software, so I can’t take photos and import them directly, which slows the workflow some, but the quality of the photos is outstanding and it’s worth the extra bit of work. The software that goes with this has another big drawback, in that it only lets you register one camera at a time with the software – so if you own multiple Olympus products, you have to ‘deregister’ one with the software to use the other, and that requires setting up the wifi and Bluetooth connections all over again. The full manual isn’t included with the package, and it took an email to customer service to get a copy I could download, as it doesn’t even appear for this model on the Olympus website.I think Olympus has a fantastic product, and they continue to improve it, but once they release it, they seem to neglect all the other things that make the product really useable for their customers. All in all, though, I’ll stick with the brand, and hope they do better on the rest.

Digital Images are Unbelievable!
I take on average 600 – 800 photos a week as a construction inspector and the quality of the photos and the economics of the camera body along with being tough and weather proof makes my life easy, thanks for a great camera.

Poor Quality Images
The T-7 camera shipped to me arrived in a plain carboard box instead of the kind of container you expect to find with an expensive camera. All the hardware components were there but the operator’s manual was missing. To obtain the manual required contacting OM. The only manual available on their website was for the T-6 model which the T-7 replaces. The manual is a must have as the user interface for this camera is complex.Pointing the camera at a person or scene produced high quality image on the display on the back side of the camera, but the image captured by the camera even in the fully automatic mode never looked as good as the image on the camera’s display prior to capture. The unit I received had a problem with its autofocus function. It invariably produced low quality, slightly out of focus, images.I don’t know if this was a defect in the unit I received, a problem created by using the wrong settings, or a design flaw in the camera. Whatever it was, I was unable to make the camera capture crisp in focus images.I returned the camera for a full refund.Although the T-6 has an excellent reputation and especially as an underwater camera, I would not recommend the T-7 given my experience.

I gave my TG-6 to my wife and got the new TG-7 both take grate picture underwater. The movie camera part work well also I like taking slow motion movie’s at 480 FPS uses lots of memory but look great. When slowing down birds is nice seeing the wings hardly move.
